Sellers: Five things you must know

1. Pick Up You must return between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm on Saturday afternoon if you want to take back your unsold merchandise. If you do not return, all of your unsold stuff is donated to Sparta Ski Boosters, Inc., a New Jersey non-profit corporation.

2. Payment You'll be paid for anything that sells whether or not you return on Saturday afternoon. If you do come in between 1:00 and 3:00 pm, in most cases you will be paid in cash. If you don't come in, we will send a check to the name and address you provide. Sparta Ski Boosters, Inc. reserves the right to pay high volume sellers by check.

3. Commission Twenty percent (20%) of the sale price of any merchandise that sells is taken as a commission, and considered a donation to Sparta Ski Boosters, Inc.

4. Consignment You must present your merchandise on Friday night between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm to assure placement in the swap. At the time of Consignment, it is your responsibility to ensure that the price tags are securely affixed to your merchandise.

5. Acceptable Items You may consign virtually anything that pertains to winter sports, as long as you are the legal owner and the item appears to be clean and functional and is not deemed obsolete by the original manufacturer. For example, in addition to skis and snowboards, you may consign hockey equipment, hockey skates, skate skis, ski boots, snow boots, snowmobiles, sleds, toboggans, snow hats, gloves, scarves, ski pants, ski bindings, ski poles, helmets, snurfers, figure skates, goggles, ice fishing rigs...even a zamboni if you have the title.

Some more things to keep in mind: Your merchandise will be much more likely to sell if it is clean and free from rust, corrosion, and cobwebs. Clothing should be recently cleaned, and should have tags that indicate the size and materials of construction.

When you are filling out the price tags, it is helpful to clearly list the size on the tag.

Be sure to fill out your contact information with a phone number that we can reach you at during Swap hours. Particularly if you are consigning higher priced merchandise and may wish to consider a late offer from a potential buyer.

Dump & Run Donations

If the paperwork is too much of a hassle, you may simply choose to donate your merchandise. In that case you just bring it in, dump it on us, and walk away knowing that we'll do our best to give it a second life, and any proceeds will be used to help the Sparta High School ski team or similar youth ski program.
